Masala Vada

There is this train journey back in India which has such fond memories for me. My mother would usually pack food for us during such journey to avoid buying anything from outside – but she will skip doing so for this one. Why? Cos I will not eat anything of that. I would starve before and during the journey, would not take anything which fellow passengers would offer and will sit with my stomach grumbling away to glory. Was I such a troublesome child- you ask? Well frankly I would like to think No There was a specific reason for my behavior. On the way, there used to be this one particular station where they used to sell one of the best Masala Vada, I have ever tasted! The aroma wafting through our coach window has the power to just lift you off the seat! Bliss!
I used to eat only that and at that age it never mattered what any “subsequent result” would be for eating at such outside joints. But till date, nothing has ever happened to me!So when it was raining recently and we were also expecting guests from India, I couldn’t help reminiscing about these spicy fritters and I gave in to make these fried goodies! So much for my avoiding fried foods! Anyways it is immensely simple to make and the taste is simply out of this world. Needless to say this recipe is from my mom and without further delay, lemme go into the method.
Ingredients
1/3 cup whole black gram dal (urad gota dal)
1/3 cup bengal gram dal (channa dal)
1/3 cup Pigeon peas (toor dal)
1 medium onion,chopped very fine
1 tsp Garam Masala
1 tsp cumin seeds
2-3 green chillies, sliced thinly (or as per taste)
2-3 dried red chillies (as per taste)
salt to taste

Method

Soak the 3 lentils in sufficient water (after cleaning in cold water) for at least 1 hour.
Drain the water well and blend it in a food processor. Make sure you add No water.
The consistency should be very thick. If you are not able to blend properly, then add few drops at a time. The ground mixture should be little coarse and you should be able to take it in your hands and shape them.
Now add rest of the ingredients to this mixture
and stir until blended well.
Take a plastic sheet/zip lock bag. Grease little with oil/water. If you are just a beginner cook, then add oil in order to avoid the water splattering the hot oil when you drop this batter. Take a little of the fritter mixture. Shape it into a round and press it flat on the sheet. oil your fingers to avoid it from sticking to your hands.
Now flip the plastic sheet to your hands so that the mixture drops smoothly on your fingers. You can put it directly to the oil if you are comfortable.
Drop this gently to hot oil and fry until both the sides is golden.
Place it in paper towel to get rid of excess oil.
Serve hot with any condiment of your choice or just by itself.
It is excellent the minute it is made. So make sure you make them just few minutes before serving.

Science teaches us that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. While we know this applies to the physical realm, we often forget that it also applies to the emotional realm. I was reminded of this recently when I found a copy of the poem entitled, The Laws of Life. It contains 15 truths about cause-effect relationships, each of them valuable for molding a better me - and a better you.

- The more enthusiastic we are, the more valuable we become.
- The more interested we are, the more alive we become.
- The more caring we are, the more radiant we become.
- The more serving we are, the more prosperous we become.
- The more outgoing we are, the more helpful we become.
- The more persistent we are, the more successful we become.
- The more grateful we are, the more Godly we become.
- The more forgiving we are, the freer we become.
- The more prayerful we are, the more blessed wee become.
- The more curious we are, the more creative we become.
- The more trusting we are, the wiser we become.
- The more patient we are, the more responsive we become.
- The more considerate we are, the more peaceful we become.
- The more cheerful we are, the more attractive we become.

This great poem reminds us that we're each in charge of ourselves and points out specific ways we can become a better person - if we want to. It also tells us what the rewards will be for living in this way. If we plant the seeds, we will reap the harvest.

Try following if not all at least a couple of these LAWS OF LIFE and try to become a better person....

The PULI effect

Yeah.. It needs a while for me to come out of the PULI effect.
Couldn't help watching the movie coz there was no other way to while away time.

This is the movie from Power star Pawan Kalyan after a long hiatus after ‘Jalsa’. And this is the movie that has come in the combination of SJ Suryah and Pawan that made big success a decade ago with ‘Khushi’. Pawan, who has been keeping his fans in the lurch for quite a while has finally arrived amidst tension and confusion in the form of ‘Komaram Puli’.

The wait is over and result is out…Sweet result would have a made the longing lovelier…But there are times a bitter outcome would drain your dreams. ‘Puli’ is one such movie that kept millions of people counting the days…and the final reaction is something beyond the imagination…

Here’s some chit chat on good and bad…What all went wrong and what was intended!!

Plot: ‘Puli’ is the movie about the sincere police for whom the duty is the prime and society his temple. Movie is all about his “Puli Team” a special team to keep an eye on police department and there by safeguard the interests of common man. In the process he has a tiff a business tycoon Alsalem (Manoj Bajpai).

Abba Chaa!!

Many might have had the hint when the trailers are out…but shocking thrills await us from the very beginning…when

Puli’s mother trains him to march “Left Right” when he is in her womb.

Sooner he grows, Puli starts climbing from Helicopter and then jumps on from one skyscraper to other. Not so later he pierces the bullets with the sword.

He is not just man of action as he frequently has war of words with the villain where each of their kidding argument occupies 20 minutes of screen time.

Then he is “chaaala chaaala!!” smart while he traces the goons just by their voice

But poor puli is outwitted by his lady love who plays a fresh drama each time, once to love him (she disguises as lady police)...next to marry him (she acts as she is in the death bed!!) and many more acts like artificial thunders and rain!!!

Scenes jump without continuity and songs creep in without a warning…Add additional graphics where in the whole screen has a ripple effects and sometimes the checker boxes.

Pawan Kalyan was loud and annoying, he reminded of Sai Kumar in Kannada movies showing over energy at every dialogue of his.
